Student Leadership

An outline of our Student Leadership opportunities can be found here

Junior School Council

Student Leadership opportunities encourage our students to be active members of their school community.  They develop confidence, organisational skills, public speaking skills and develop their leadership skills for future experiences.  The Junior School Council is comprised of two students from each class who respresent their peers in decision making and event planning experiences.  Each term the Junior School Council coordinate a special day for their peers, often fundraising for a selected local charity/organisation.

School Captains

The School Captains and Vice Captains are our representatives for our student community.  They are required to perform a number of roles including:

  • leading fortnightly assemblies,
  • assist with school tours,
  • work collaboratively with staff, other school leaders and peers, and
  • representing the school at events.

House Captains

Newcomb Primary School has three school houses which students are dividied into.  Students represent their house in a number of sports competitions, including Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country.  House points are awarded at these events and the school house trophies are awarded.  Our house captains are representatives for their peers within their house team.
